If you were one of the lucky few that managed to sneak in a cheeky 2020 summer holiday then congrats hun we’re so happy for you…
But for most of us, summer 2020 was more BBQ’s in the back yard and pub garden afternoons than it was partying it up with Wayne in O Beach, Ibiza *cries into cocktail*. But whilst we did have some seriously scorching temperatures during some of the most unprecedented times, the UK sun will never quite let us achieve that deep bronzed glow we’re really after.
So that’s why we’ve compiled a list of our favourite fake tans so whether you soaked up the rays in Marbella or Manchester, no one will be any the wiser. Enjoy!
Nip & Fab Faux Tan Mist
This water-based tan contains Aloe Vera and glycolic acid to help exfoliate and create that even tan we’re all after. If you’re not a fan of the traditional mousse based fake tan, you’ll find this one much easier to apply and it will still give off that same glowy finish.
How much? £19.99 RRP
Where from? Available at ASOS, Boots, and Nip & Fab.com
ALLEVEN Colour Shield
Loved by MUAs and tanning pros, this spray-on formula is perfect if you only need a tan for one day (we’re thinking for those insta pics…we got you). After a shower and some exfoliation, it will easily come off so you don’t need to worry about becoming more patchy than a tiger.
How much? £38.00 for 100ml
Where from? Available at Cult Beauty in shades Ivory, Pearl, Sand, and Amber
Clarins Self-Tanning Milky Lotion
This tan from Clarins is perfect for those of us that suffer from super dry skin and also, it has a smooth moisturiser texture which once applied, will fully develop after 4-6 hours. Top tip: to ensure you achieve the maximum bronzed colour, apply the tan before you go to bed and you’ll have the best results possible.
How much? £21.00
Where from? Available from the Clarins website, Boots and Feel Unique
St. Moriz Spray Tan
This wouldn’t be a round-up without arguably, one the UK’s most popular fake tans, St Moriz is a firm favourite for good reason, it gives off the best deep bronzed when applied the night before and makes you feel like a goddess even after the first shower wash. Want some good news? St Moriz has released their first-ever tanning mist which allows you to control your shade more so than ever before. If you prefer a slightly more natural colouring then just apply and leave on for an hour or so, or, if you’re after that classic deep, dark colour then leave on for a minimum of 3 hours, or, use our top tip from earlier and apply just before going to bed.
How much? £8.99
Where from? Available at Superdrug and the St Moriz website
Bondi Sands Aero Aerated Self-Tanning Ultra Dark Foam
Don’t let that renowned slightly green tint when first applied put you off, apply this before bed, and then wash off in the morning and you’ll be left with a deep, instant tan that, if you moisturise daily, will keep you looking glowy for 7- 10 days. Another tip from us, (don’t say we don’t spoil you), if when the tan comes out of the pump it’s REALLY green that means it’s out of date and you should throw it away, no one needs to look like a real-life Shrek, we don’t stand for those vibes.
How much? £19.99
Where from? Superdrug, Boots, and Look Fantastic
Luna Bronze Glow Gradual Tanning Moisturiser
Perfect for beginners who want to build a gradual tan over time, whilst incorporating vitamins A, B, and E to help boost skin texture, this tan will leave you feeling glowy but also supernatural. As it’s a moisturiser based tan, if you want a deeper glow it may take a few days for it to progress instead of the traditional mousse based tans than give you an instant glow. However, the best part of a moisturiser based tan is that after a few days it won’t become patchy and will just slowly wash off and get lighter, so no need to scrub off your skin once you’re done with it.
How much? £24
Where from? Available at Cult Beauty and Boots.
